RING CHAMP GARY LEAVES JUST PS1K.

Byline: Keir Mudie

Former British heavyweight boxing champion Gary Mason left an estate worth just PS1000.

Mason was British champion from 1989 until he was beaten by Lennox Lewis in 1991 - his only defeat in his 38-fight professional career.

He was killed at the age of 48 in January 2011 when he was hit by a van while out on his bike near his home in Wallington, London.

Newly-released probate records reveal he did not leave a will, meaning his gross estate will be inherited by his family under intestacy rules.

Mason was known for his party-loving lifestyle and was said to have lost cash on several business ventures including a shop called Punch 'n' Jewellery and a clothing line called Punch and Style.

Mason was also known for his charity work and was setting up a drumming therapy charity at the time of his death.
