RILEY NAMED TO HEAD F-22 PROGRAM AT LOCKHEED

MARIETTA, Ga., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- L. Gary Riley has been appointed as F-22 program vice president and general manager at Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Company (LASC).
The appointment was announced by Kenneth W. Cannestra, president of Lockheed's Aeronautical Systems Group, which includes LASC.
In his new position, Riley will direct the Lockheed-Boeing team developing the F-22 air superiority fighter for the U.S. Air Force. The F-22 is being developed by LASC, Lockheed Fort Worth Company, and Boeing Military Airplanes Division and is scheduled to enter operational service in the year 2003.
Riley, 55, succeeds James A. (Micky) Blackwell who this week was appointed as president of LASC. Since joining Lockheed in 1959, Riley has worked on the F-104 fighter program; held positions in Engineering, Manufacturing, and Master Scheduling; and served as L-1011 program manager.
"The F-22 program will also benefit from Gary's experience in leading the highly successful F-117A stealth fighter program during the 1980s," Cannestra said.
Riley was appointed vice president for Lockheed's C-17 subcontract program in 1989; vice president, Anti-Submarine Warfare/Airborne Early Warning Systems and Advanced Programs in 1990; and vice president, Joint Primary Aircraft Trat?em (JPATS) program in 1992.
He holds a B.S. degree in mathematics from California Polytechnic Institute in San Luis Obispo and a master's degree in management science from the University of Southern California.
