RIEDEL OMNI WINS GRADE CROSSING AWARD

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Riedel OMNI Rubber Products, the recycled rubber products manufacturing subsidiary of Riedel Environmental Technologies Inc. (AMEX: RIE), announced today that the company has been selected by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) to supply over $800,000 of the company's rubber railroad grade crossings. DART is constructing the initial phase of a 26-mile transit system in the Dallas metropolitan area.
Riedel OMNI manufactures railroad grade crossings from recycled rubber and markets the crossings throughout North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim. The DART project is the largest single contract OMNI has obtained to date. The crossings will be manufactured at the Riedel OMNI plant in Ennis, Texas.
DART selected Riedel OMNI's recycled rubber crossings from alternative designs, including concrete and full-depth rubber.
Arthur A. Riedel, chairman and chief executive officer of parent company Riedel Environmental Technologies, said, "We're very pleased with this award. Our recycled rubber crossings have been very popular because of their great durability and speed and ease of installation."
According to Ronald G. Nutting, president of Riedel OMNI, Dallas is one of a dozen major rail transit systems which has relied on Riedel OMNI to provide crossings. Transit properties in Los Angeles, Baltimore, Chicago, Sacramento, Calif., St. Louis, Seattle, Long Island, N.Y., Pittsburgh, Boston and Calgary, Alberta, among others have constructed systems utilizing OMNI's products.
