 RIDDELL SPORTS AND SIGNAL APPAREL ANNOUNCE LICENSING AGREEMENT;
 CEO OF SIGNAL APPOINTED TO RIDDELL BOARD
 NEW YORK, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Signal Apparel Company, Inc. (NYSE: SIA), and Riddell Sports Inc. (NASDAQ: RIDL) announced today the execution of a long-term licensing agreement. The agreement allows Signal to use the "Riddell" trademark in the development and marketing of a line of athletic leisure apparel, including T-shirts, fleece products and other active wear. The five year agreement, which may be extended an additional 20 years through the exercise of renewal options, covers products to be distributed in the United States and Canada. The license also covers Europe and Japan.
 Roger Holland, CEO of Signal, was also named to Riddell's board of directors. Before joining Signal, Holland was president and CEO of Champion Products, Inc., regarded as one of the premier names in athletic uniforms, fleecewear and T-shirts.
 "We are very excited about the opportunity this license represents for both Riddell and Signal," said Robert Nederlander, chairman and CEO of Riddell. "The consumer recognition of the Riddell name compliments Signal's strategy to further expand its presence in the athletic leisure wear market. In addition, Roger Holland's extensive experience in the licensing industry brings an invaluable resource to Riddell as we seek to expand this aspect of the business."
 Holland, announcing his acceptance of the position on the board of directors of Riddell stated, "The Riddell Brand has tremendous athletic heritage and with the national and international exposure it gains from the football helmets, it is a great brand on which to build a major domestic and international sports program for apparel and footwear. The addition of the Riddell Brand is another step in developing Signal as a major sportswear marketing company."
 Riddell Sports Inc. is the world's leading manufacturer and reconditioner of football helmets. Riddell sells football helmets, shoulder pads and other sport protective equipment under the "Riddell" brand name, provides reconditioning services under the "All American" name and licenses the "Riddell" and "MacGregor" trademarks for use on athletic footwear, apparel and other sports equipment.
