RICHARD N. BURGER NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF BURNS AEROSPACE CORPORATION
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard N. Burger has been named president and chief executive officer of Burns Aerospace Corporation of Winston-Salem.
The announcement was made today by C. Clifford Brake, executive vice president and group executive of Eagle Industries, Inc., Burns' parent company, which is located in Chicago. Burger has been acting president since February.
"Rich has gained management experience in several areas of the Burns operation during his 12 years with the company," Brake said. "He provides an excellent administrative complement to our strong engineering, manufacturing and marketing functions."
Prior to being named acting president, Burger spent the previous three years as executive vice president of operations, with responsibility for all of the company's manufacturing and support functions except engineering.
He joined Burns' former parent company, Fairchild Industries, Inc., in 1979 in the finance department and came to the Fairchild Burns Company in Winston-Salem in 1984. In 1985 he was named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Burns with responsibility for finance, human resources, contract administration, customer service management, purchasing and information systems.
Burns is the largest manufacturer and marketer of seating for the worldwide commercial aviation industry. The company designs and makes seats and seat components in Winston-Salem and at its plant in Los Angeles and refurbishes all brands of seats at both locations. It also has a manufacturing and servicing facility in Shannon, Ireland to serve Europe.
Eagle Industries has invested more than $5 million in an expansion of the Winston-Salem facility since 1990. A $1 million dynamic testing laboratory is scheduled to open here later this year. Burns now employs approximately 750 workers at its facility on Fairchild Drive in Winston-Salem.
