 RICHARD LIDSTAD TO HEAD 3M HUMAN RESOURCES
 ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The 3M (NYSE: MMM) board of


directors, Wednesday, Sept. 2, elected Richard A. Lidstad vice president, Human Resources, effective immediately. Lidstad succeeds Christopher J. Wheeler, senior vice president, Human Resources, who died Aug. 15.
 Lidstad joined 3M in 1958 as a technician in the former Copying Products Division Laboratory. He received a bachelor of science degree in business from the University of Minnesota in 1962. He held various positions of increasing responsibility in the copying and business products businesses before being named general manager, Equipment Service and Support Division, in 1982. He served as general manager, then division vice president, for the Business Communication Products and Office Systems divisions before being named to his current position, staff vice president, Human Resources, in August 1987.
 Lidstad serves on the boards of the Institute for a Drug-Free Workplace, Inroads of Minneapolis/St. Paul and the United Way of St. Paul. He is 1992 campaign co-chair for the United Way of the St. Paul area.
