RICHARD J. HRAPCZYNSKI JR. NAMED DIRECTOR-MIS
                   FOR PAPER CORPORATION OF AMERICA
VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard J. Hrapczynski Jr. has been named director-Management Information Systems for Paper Corporation of America, a nationwide distributor of printing papers and industrial products. In this role, he will manage the development of information systems to link PCA's network of 20 operating companies throughout North America.
Hrapczynski, 37, will report to John J. McKiernan, vice president- finance and administration for PCA.
The need for integrated management information systems at PCA is greater than ever before, according to McKiernan. "As we built our network of companies over the last 24 years, we've stressed the individual autonomy of each company, because it gave us the flexibility to meet local market needs. Today, however, large customers with multiple locations often purchase from several of our companies and require a unified, state-of-the-art system for accounting and inventory management," McKiernan said. "Rich will manage the development of that system."
Hrapczynski attended Temple University and the Institute of Computer Sciences, and from 1973 to 1979 held various positions with Lionel Leisure and Codesco. In 1979 he joined Alco Standard Corporation (NYSE: ASN), PCA's parent company, where he served in several management positions until 1986. Since then, he has served as vice president, Management Information Systems for Unisource, PCA's California-based affiliate. Hrapczynski will relocate from the Unisource office in San Francisco to PCA headquarters in Valley Forge.
Paper Corporation of America, an Alco Standard company, is one of the world's largest paper distributors, with annual sales of $3.6 billion.
Alco Standard, also headquartered in Valley Forge, is a publicly held distribution and services company. For its fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 1991, revenues were $4.8 billion.
