RICHARD GERSTNER SIGNS ON AS TELULAR CEO

 WILMETTE, Ill., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Telular Corp. appointed Richard T. Gerstner chief executive officer and president of the Wilmette, Ill.-based company.
 Telular Corp. manufacturers and markets advanced fixed wireless telecommunications products for commercial, industrial and residential applications.
 As chief executive and president of Telular Corp., Gerstner will oversee all aspects of the company's business in the U.S. and in international markets. He will report to the company's founder and chairman, William L. DeNicolo.

 Dick Gerstner, 54, retired from IBM in 1992, following a 32-year career that was characterized by a series of rapid promotions. A corporate vice president since 1983, Gerstner served from 1988 through 1989 as general manager of the IBM Personal Systems line of business, the $8 billion business unit that was responsible for personal computers and engineering workstations. From 1986 to 1988, Gerstner was the top executive of IBM's Asia/Pacific Group. He previously held management positions in IBM marketing, manufacturing and development organizations, including a four-year assignment in Paris.
 A native of Mineola, N.Y., Gerstner was graduated from Stanford University with a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1963. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Villanova University in 1960.
 Gerstner plans to relocate to the Chicago area from his home in Stamford, Conn.
 Founded in 1986, Telular has developed and patented telecommunications interface technology that converts any phone system, fax, computer modem or alarm system to available wireless service for either primary or back-up communications.
