RICHARD FOX NAMED TO NEW POST AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, INTERNATIONAL THEATRICAL ENTERPRISES FOR WARNER BROS. INC.
RICHARD FOX NAMED TO NEW POST AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, INTERNATIONAL THEATRICAL ENTERPRISES FOR WARNER BROS. INC. BURBANK, Calif., March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard Fox has been elevated to the newly created position of executive vice president, International Theatrical Enterprises for Warner Bros. Inc., it was announced today by Robert A. Daly, chairman and chief executive officer, and by Terry Semel, president and chief operating officer of Warner Bros. Inc. The appointment is effective immediately. In his new role, Fox will be working closely with Daly and Semel to develop new opportunities emerging from Warner Bros. Inc.'s international growth as a communications entity, as the company moves to strengthen its existing resources, expand newly acquired businesses and explore further new enterprises. Fox, who will continue to oversee Warner's International Theatrical Distribution Division, will also work closely with Salah Hassanein, president of Warner Bros. International Theatres Co., in an ongoing expansion of international exhibition. Fox most recently served as president of the International Theatrical Distribution Division since 1985. He joined the company in 1975 as a management trainee working in both Australia and Japan. In 1977, he became general manager of Columbia-Warner Distribution in New Zealand, and in 1978, he was named general manager of Warner Bros. in Tokyo (for Japan and Korea). Fox joined Warner Bros.' home office in 1981 as executive assistant to the president of the International Theatrical Distribution Division. In 1982, Fox was named vice president, sales, moving up to executive vice president of Warner's International Theatrical Distribution Division in 1983, and rose to the post of president of the division in 1985. In a joint statement, Daly and Semel said, "Our International Theatrical Distribution Division has performed outstandingly well over the past decade, becoming a lynchpin in our global expansion and a source of price to this company. Richard has been integral to this performance, contributing diverse experience and excellent judgment to a broad spectrum of strategic and managerial challenges.
