RICHARD COHEN APPOINTED PRESIDENT OF MGM/UA HOME ENTERTAINMENT

 SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard Cohen has been named president of MGM/UA Home Entertainment, a newly created position, it was announced today by Frank G. Mancuso, chairman and chief executive officer of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (MGM).
 Cohen will have responsibility for the worldwide activities of MGM/UA Home Entertainment, including home video product and electronic publishing in new media.
 He was previously executive vice president of Buena Vista Home Video Worldwide, with worldwide responsibility for Walt Disney, Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures home video product.
 "We believe there are enormous opportunities for growth, not only in home video markets worldwide, but in new media," Mancuso stated. "To reflect this new environment, we have changed the name from MGM/UA Home Video to MGM/UA Home Entertainment. Richard's broad experience in these world markets will enable MGM/UA Home Entertainment to capitalize on these opportunities."

"The MGM, United Artists and MGM/Turner libraries, augmented by the new product from MGM Pictures and United Artists Pictures, will enable MGM/UA Home Entertainment to become a major competitor in the world marketplace."
 MGM currently holds home video distribution rights to more than 4,700 titles, including 2,950 classic films in the famed Turner/MGM library, approximately 1,100 in the United Artists library (including 100 new MGM/UA titles), and 700 titles from the Cannon and Pathe libraries. MGM home video product is serviced under an agreement with Warner Home Video.
 George Feltenstein, senior vice president for sales and marketing, and Ron Miele, senior vice president for business affairs, will both now report to Cohen.
 Cohen joined Disney in 1986, initially as vice president of International Home Video and Pay Television. He previously was vice president, Pay Television for UIP, the international distribution arm for MGM, Universal and Paramount. He is a graduate of Amherst College and received an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles.
 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. is involved in the worldwide production and distribution of motion pictures and television programs through MGM Pictures, United Artists Pictures, MGM/UA Worldwide Television, MGM/UA Distribution, and MGM Home Entertainment, among others.
