RICHARD A. LIETZ NAMED ANR PIPELINE CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

 DETROIT, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard A. Lietz has been elected executive vice president and chief operating officer of ANR Pipeline Company, reporting to James F. Cordes, chairman of ANR Pipeline and executive vice president of ANR's parent, The Coastal Corporation.
 Lietz, formerly senior vice president of ANR Pipeline, replaces William J. Haener, who will now pursue development of special projects related to the natural gas businesses of various Coastal subsidiaries, including ANR Pipeline.
 Separately, William P. Vititoe, ANR Pipeline president and chief executive officer, announced he will resign effective immediately to pursue other interests. No replacement for Vititoe has been announced.
 "Bill Vititoe served an important role in building ANR Pipeline into the flexible, customer-responsive organization it is today," said Cordes, who also is president of The Coastal Corporation's Natural Gas Group. "Additionally, I am pleased we will have the continued benefit of Bill Haener's experience and counsel."
 ANR Pipeline Company operates a 12,601-mile interstate natural gas pipeline system and provides storage, transportation and various capacity-related services for local distribution companies, pipelines, end-users and other customers in both the United States and Canada.
