RIB TICKLERS COMEDY CLUB, H'POOL.
HARTLEPOOL berthed HMS Trincomalee, the UK's oldest warship afloat, is to launch its own comedy club.
And to celebrate, the ship has been renamed - using a little computer trickery of course.
The Rib Ticklers Comedy Club at HMS Trincomalee will kick off on Saturday, June 6 with comedian Silky, a former BBC New Comedy Awards finalist, supported by Boro comedian Fran Garrity. Stand-up Matthew Fong will be the opening act and the very first performer on stage at the new club.
David McKnight, general manager of HMS Trincomalee, said: "Our new comedy club offers something completely different. We're delighted that the venue is to host some fantastic comedians and the first evening promises to be enormous fun in an authentically historic setting.
"We're looking forward to welcoming people from the local area and from further afield to what promises to be a regular fixture in the comedy club circuit in our region."
Tickets are PS10, www.hms-trincomalee.co.uk for more information. All proceeds from the event will support the conservation and maintenance of the ship which is berthed at Jackson Dock, Hartlepool's Maritime Experience.
