-- Electronic Addition of Widely Respected Publication Expands
Depth of State's Tax Research Available to Professionals --
NEW YORK, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Research Institute of America (RIA), and Spidell Publishing, Inc., announced today that SPIDELL'S CALIFORNIA TAXLETTER is now available on RIA's CD-ROM tax research products. The comprehensive TAXLETTER is integrated on one disc with RIA's different tax research platforms -- OnPoint System, the reporter- based United States Tax Reporter, and its Tax Guide Plus.
The availability of the TAXLETTER on CD-ROM brings to tax practitioners the first electronic collection of current and historical reports (dating back to October, 1987). The TAXLETTER not only explains the impact of California tax law changes but also uniquely provides recommendations for problem resolution.
"We're delighted to become a part of RIA's CD-ROM product lines, knowing that whether the tax researcher is a sole practitioner or a national accounting firm, out TAXLETTER will be available through a number of different RIA research platforms," said Robert Spidell, president of Spidell Publishing, Inc.
"Now a tax practitioner can make our TAXLETTER part of a total electronic state and federal tax research library. The strength of this approach is that all of these materials are on one CD-ROM disc, integrated into a complete system."
James Ramsey, senior vice president of RIA's Electronic Publishing unit, based in Walnut Creek, Calif., noted, "The addition of SPIDELL'S CALIFORNIA TAXLETTER on the OnPoint System and our other CD-ROM tax research products comes appropriately at a time when RIA is expanding its CD-ROM research and compliance scope to include state and local reporter services and Official State Instructions and Forms.
"One of the most exciting features of the TAXLETTER is how its unparalleled clarity and practical guidance easily help practitioners deal with state changes in personal income, corporate, payroll, sales and use and property tax law. Unlike any other California research material, Spidell's analysis and advice not only steer the practitioner to resolution of difficult California tax problems, but also further arm this practitioner with checklists, charts and client letters to streamline what is now time-consuming daily practice," Mr. Ramsey added.
RIA's CD-ROM products require an IBM PC or compatible; DOS 3.1 or higher; 640K memory; a CD-ROM drive (standard high sierra format), and a 3.5 inch or 5.25 inch disc drive. OnPoint also is network compatible. A modem is required for Online Link for those users who wish to research materials not found on the CD-ROM by accessing LEXIS.
Founded in 1935, RIA is headquartered in New York City and utilizes a combined, full-time staff of more than 200 CPA's attorneys, and related professionals, as well as outside contributing professional authorities. The company's Electronic Division was formed in 1991. In 1989, RIA was purchased by Thomson Professional Publishing, a unit of Toronto-based Thomson Corporation.
CALIFORNIA TAXLETTER is a monthly newsletter, published since 1979 by Spidell Publishing, Inc., of Anaheim, Calif. It is widely recognized as a practical and authoritative resource on the constantly changing California tax laws.
