RI-RI DROPS A SEX BOMB; CD OF THE WEEK.

Byline: GAVIN MARTIN

RIHANNA Talk That Talk ****

Since her recording career began in 2005, Rihanna, 23, has not rested. Over the course of six albums in as many years, she has grown from a sunny Barbadian teen into a mischievous, lip-licking, 20 million-selling sex bomb.

Her most explicit album to date, Talk That Talk climaxes in a no-holds-barred frenzy of cutting edge dancefloor grooves and declarations of physical desire. Fortunately routine demands such as "I want it all night /Give it to me baby" and her offer to "Show you my dirty secrets" are backed by an arsenal of spectacular beats.

Most notably, You Da One mounts a series of progressively heavier dubstepgone-techno departures, echoing the release and elation she seeks. The title track has her stealing not just Beyonc's bootylicious crown but also her husband Jay-Z for a frisky exchange against sibilant drum cracks.

In Cockiness (Love It) she declares herself a dominatrix, gleefully bouncing around the padded cell of sexbeats, while Roc Me Out is a rodeo ride on a bucking bronco of synapsesnapping sonic manoeuvres and friskiness. A deluxe version of the album offers an alternative cover and three extra tracks, including the Chase & Status-assisted Red Lipstick.

Talk That Talk is the sound of a bad girl on a winning streak and relishing every minute.
