 RHONE-POULENC S.A. TO ISSUE $500 MILLION OF NOTES
 PARIS, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Rhone-Poulenc S.A. (NYSE: RPPrA, RPU,


RPWS) will issue $500 million of 6.75 percent notes, due Oct. 15, 1999, in the U.S. market, it announced today.
 The notes were priced today at a fixed price of 99.337 percent plus accrued interest to yield 6.87 percent, a spread of 87 basis points above the comparable U.S. Treasury's seven-year notes.
 The offering of notes will be lead managed by Lehman Brothers. The notes will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol RP99. Rhone-Poulenc said it expects to use the net proceeds from the sale of the notes for general corporate purposes, including the increase of working capital and the repayment of short-term indebtedness.
