RHONE-POULENC RORER INCREASES DIVIDEND FOR EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE QUARTER; DIVIDEND UP 148 PERCENT IN THREE YEARS

 COLLEGEVILLE, Pa., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Rhone-Poulenc Rorer (NYSE: RPR) today declared a quarterly dividend of 26 cents per share payable on Aug. 31, 1993, to shareholders of record on Aug. 10.
 The 1993 third quarter dividend is more than double the rate of the dividend paid at the time of the merger of Rorer Group Inc and the Rhone-Poulenc S.A. Human Pharmaceutical Business in 1990. This is RPR's eighth consecutive quarterly dividend increase and 1993 marks the 40th consecutive year of dividend increases by RPR.
 Rhone-Poulenc Rorer is a global pharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development, manufacturing and marketing of human pharmaceuticals. The company reported sales of $4.1 billion and invested more than $500 million in research & development in 1992.
