RHONE-POULENC EXECUTIVE JOINS ECOGEN AS VICE PRESIDENT OF MANUFACTURING

 LANGHORNE, Pa., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Ecogen Inc. (NASDAQ: EECN), today announced it has appointed former Rhone-Poulenc executive Robert A. Finder to the newly created position of vice president of manufacturing. He will be responsible for manufacturing the company's diverse line of biorational pesticide products. Mr. Finder brings to the company more than 20 years experience in the pharmaceutical/food chemicals manufacturing industry.

His experience in manufacturing will facilitate the efficient production and distribution of Ecogen's biorational pest control products throughout the United States and worldwide," said James P. Reilly, president and chief operating officer. "As Ecogen continues to penetrate the global biopesticide market, Bob's overseas experience and contacts, especially in Asia, will be critical."
 Prior to joining Ecogen, Mr. Finder, 46, was director of manufacturing at Rhone-Poulenc, Inc., responsible for the company's six U.S. fine organics manufacturing sites, representing approximately $200 million in sales. Previously, he was managing director of Rhone- Poulenc Thai Industries Ltd., based in Bangkok, Thailand. Mr. Finder also spent 18 years at Monsanto serving in a number of senior positions including general superintendent of manufacturing, where he was responsible for manufacturing products with combined sales of $100 million, and managing director of Monsanto Chemicals Thailand Ltd., where he was responsible for the establishment of a major joint venture. Monsanto Chemicals Thailand was later sold to Rhone-Poulenc.

 Mr. Finder earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Detroit and has served as an officer in the U.S. Army.
