RHONE-POULENC CONSIDERS SELLING 'CERAMIQUES & COMPOSITES'
PARIS, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Rhone-Poulenc's Organic and Inorganic Intermediates Sector is considering selling its Ceramiques & Composites businesses to the company's management. Ceramiques & Composites is based at Bazet, in France's Haute- Pyrenees region. Since 1985, it has been owned by Rhone-Poulenc (90 percent) and Aerospatiale (10 percent). It employs 85 people and its 1991 net sales totalled FF 57 million. Its core businesses are the manufacture of thermo-engineered ceramic components, specializing in silicon carbide seals for automotive, and the development of new products and processes for the defense, aerospace and automobile industries. Rhone-Poulenc said the Ceramiques & Composites businesses no longer fit in with its strategic growth objectives. In recent years, Rhone- Poulenc has restructured its operations and adapted its management practices to its new corporate mission, thereby positioning it for new development in the future. -0- 1/23/93 /CONTACT: Bertrand Salle de Chou of Rhone-Poulenc, in Paris, 33-1-47-68-02-15, or Pierre Deny of Ceramiques & Composites, in Bazet, 33-1-62-33-39-32/
