RFU launch England investigation.

Summary: The Rugby Football Union has announced it will investigate England's conduct during their ill-fated World Cup campaign in New Zealand.

The Rugby Football Union has announced it will investigate England's conduct during their ill-fated World Cup campaign in New Zealand.

Acting chief executive Martyn Thomas says they will look into all allegations of impropriety, and any player found to have breached the rules could face fines or suspension.

Karena Vleck, the head of the RFU's legal department, will head the report.

England were plagued by a string of negative headlines during their stint in New Zealand. Most recently Manu Tuilagi was detained by police on Sunday and fined Au3,000 by the RFU for jumping off a ferry into Auckland harbour.

The conduct of some squad members found itself in the spotlight since a group of players enjoyed a night out drinking in Queenstown.

Manager Martin Johnson had given the players permission to go out and some ended the night in a tourist bar which was staging a dwarf-racing contest.

Mike Tindall was then captured on CCTV at the Altitude Bar in conversation with a woman, who is reported to have been a former flame.

He later apologised for accidentally misleading the England management over his actions that night.

Johnson was also forced to reprimand James Haskell, Dylan Hartley and Chris Ashton over a reported incident with a female member of staff in their Dunedin hotel.
