INCENDIARY (15, 100 mins) Drama *****

The story? A young mother (Michelle Williams) is struggling to come to terms with the senseless deaths of her husband Lenny (Nicholas Gleaves) and young son (Sidney Johnston) after a suicide bombing at Arsenal Football Club's stadium. Her grief is beset with guilt because at the time of the explosion, she was conducting an affair with journalist Jasper Black (Ewan McGregor). As the mother searches for answers, she winds up stalking the young son of one of the suspected bombers.

Any good? Ye s. Based on a book by Chris Cleave which, remarkably, was published on the day of the 7/7 terrorist attack on London, this has a novelistic approach and in that respect it doesn't really flow as a film. But it is held together by a very good performance from Williams. It winds up a little too sentimental for it's own good but it's still an interesting look at a difficult topic.

SAW (18, 92 mins) Horror *****

The story? Serial killer Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) somehow continues his gruesome deeds from beyond the grave in the, very hopefully, final instalment of the booby-trapped horror franchise.

At the end of the fourth film, Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) continued Jigsaw's blood-soaked plans. When his secret is threatened, Hoffman is forced to tie up the loose ends, including his mentor's embittered ex-wife Jill (Betsy Russell).

Any good? Can't tell you. As usual with the Saw films they aren't available to critics for screening prior to release.

Usually that would denote a very bad film aiming to limit a critical mauling but let's be honest, if you watched all the other Saw films then you're going to watch this one too.
