REVCO DISTRIBUTES TOURNAMENT PROCEEDS TO LOCAL CHARITIES

CLEVELAND, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Revco, D.S., Inc., (NYSE: RXR) today presented checks to 12 local charities totaling more than $450,000. The money primarily represents proceeds from this year's Nike Cleveland Open presented by Revco golf tournament held June 8-13 at Quail Hollow Resort in Concord.
Proceeds of the Open fund the tax-exempt Revco Golf Charities Foundation which supports local charities serving the needs of children in northeast Ohio. In its three years of existence, the Revco Golf Charities Foundation has distributed more than $1.3 million.
"We are pleased to be able to assist these organizations in the valuable work they do with one of our most vital resources -- the children of our community," said D. Dwayne Hoven, president of Revco. "They are representative of the many worthwhile organizations that directly serve children, providing essential health-related services, as well as education, guidance and productive outlets for their energies."
The presentations were made by Hoven at a press conference at the Urban Community School, which also was a recipient of $35,000.
Other recipients of the proceeds were:
-- Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland, $150,000.
-- Ronald McDonald Children's Charities of Northeastern Ohio,
 $75,000.
-- Cleveland Ronald McDonald House, $35,000.
 -- Parmadale Children's Village, $35,000.

While this was Revco's last year connected with the Nike Tour, Revco Golf Charities Foundation will continue raising money for childrens charities next year through a planned Revco Celebrity Classic. The date for that tournament will be announced early next year.
