REVCO DECIDES NOT TO RENEW SPONSORSHIP OF CLEVELAND OPEN

TWINSBURG, Ohio, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Revco D.S., Inc. (NYSE: RXR) announced today that it will no longer sponsor the Cleveland stop on the 30-event NIKE Tour.
"We are proud of our three-year association with this prestigious event and delighted to have helped support local charitable organizations through our sponsorship," said Bob A. Newmark, Revco vice president communications and tournament general chairman. "In all, the previous Cleveland Opens presented by Revco have raised well over a million dollars all of which has gone to local children's charities through our Revco Golf Charities Foundation.
"We know the Cleveland Open will remain an exciting and popular event," said Newmark. "For Revco, however, we believe the time has come for us to look into new opportunities to contribute to the betterment of our community."
Thanks in large measure to Revco's efforts, the Cleveland Open has become a world-class event, attracting golf's most promising young stars and offering the highest purse on the 30-event NIKE Tour.
"We greatly appreciate Revco's years of support and sponsorship," said Dale Antram, executive director of NIKE Tour Operations. "Under its leadership, the Cleveland Open has become one of the premier events on the tour. Revco has given us a solid foundation of success upon which to build for the future.
"The PGA Tour intends to continue the tournament, which has been played all four years at the Quail Hollow Resort in Concord, Ohio. Several discussions with Cleveland area groups concerning sponsorship are planned for the next several weeks," Antram said.
Revco operates approximately 1,190 drugstores in nine contiguous eastern states, and fills more than 50 million prescriptions annually. Based in Twinsburg, Ohio, Revco has annual sales of $2.2 billion.
