REUTERS TO SUPPLY ONLINE NEWS TO YAHOO!(TM).

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 1995--Reuters NewMedia Inc. today said it has signed a non-exclusive, one-year agreement to supply the Reuters Online News Service to Yahoo!, the popular Internet guide.

The Reuters Online News Service, a package of top 10 news stories in five subject categories updated hourly, will be integrated in a new Yahoo! user interface beginning on July 31.

Reuters news on Yahoo! will be supported by business-to-business and consumer advertising. Reuters is to receive a share of the revenue generated by the advertising displayed on the Reuters news pages.

Yahoo! users will access Reuters news by clicking on a "Headlines" icon on the Yahoo! home page, which guides users to a news summary page where current news can be scanned and stories of interest determined. Complete articles can be retrieved by clicking on the related news summary. Reuters news summaries also will be indexed by subject in the primary categories of Yahoo!'s hierarchical index.

"Reuters NewMedia is committed to online publishing and to partnering with innovative online publishers such as Yahoo! to deliver increasingly fresh, dynamic and contextual content," said John Taysom, Vice President, Reuters NewMedia, Palo Alto.

"Reuters is pleased to be allied with Yahoo! in their commercial launch which will bring Reuters news to a new audience that totals several million in the United States. This endeavor also represents the first time Reuters news will be displayed with and directly supported by space advertising in an online environment," Taysom added.

In June, Yahoo! announced an ambitious plan to re-design the user interface of its online guide as the first step of its business evolution. Today Yahoo! announced the launch of a three-month trial involving a test by five advertisers. The Yahoo! guide is among the Internet's most popular Web-sites with nearly 3.0 million hits per day, translating to about 300,000 users daily, according to Yahoo!

"We are excited about our partnership with Reuters because it enables Yahoo! to bring considerably more value to its guide by adding the elements of immediacy and augmenting the breadth of information it offers its customers," said Jerry Yang, Yahoo!'s co-founder. "Internet users can now come to Yahoo! for information about both the online and 'offline' worlds."

Located in Mountain View, California, Yahoo! publishes an intuitive, up-to-date and efficient guide for information and online discovery. More than a simple directory or search engine, Yahoo!'s guide enables users to navigate through the Internet to gather information for business or recreation. The guide serves as a useful home base for "net surfing" and can be found on the Internet's World Wide Web at Uniform Resource Locator (URL) address, http://www.yahoo.com.

Reuters NewMedia Inc. is a U.S.-based subsidiary of Reuters Holdings PLC (NASDAQ: RTRSY) which develops new applications for Reuters news, information and transaction services in various business segments and online markets.
