REUTERS TO MARKET TRANSACTION EXPRESS PRODUCT

LONDON, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Reuters and Teknekron announced today that they are to collaborate in the marketing of Transaction Express communications software which has been developed by Teknekron.

The Transaction Express software offers a foundation for distributed transaction processing; an enterprise-wide technology that is applicable to many business communications needs. Within the financial markets, the Transaction Express software extends both the Reuters Triarch and Teknekron trading systems beyond real-time market data distribution by providing guaranteed delivery of a wide range of data to or between different applications. This, in turn, provides a robust foundation for a broad range of financial services such as trade capture, position services, risk management, settlement and accounting services.

Based upon Teknekron's enterprise-wide, "publish subscribe" communications methodology rather than traditional database mechanisms, the Transaction Express software is at the forefront of emerging transactions technology. It is composed of a unique set of transaction management services that support guaranteed delivery of information among applications in a global enterprise. These include services for managing and monitoring transaction workflows, scalable administration, wide-area network support, KERBEROS security features, data protection and database integration.

"The Transaction Express software will be Reuters corporate standard for transaction processing middleware," said Greg Meekings, Information Management Systems Marketing Director at Reuters. "It will complement Reuters existing range of open interfaces which include Reuters SSL supported by Triarch. We confidently expect Transaction Express to provide the foundation for a consistent range of products and services that span all trading systems."

"The adoption of this transaction processing technology by our customers is very exciting," said Vivek Ranadive, President and Chief Executive Officer of Teknekron. "We are hopeful that Reuters and Teknekron's proven expertise and market position within the financial markets will lead to Transaction Express being adopted as the industry standard for guaranteed data distribution by our mutual customers."

Reuters and Teknekron will continue independently to develop and sell their market data trading systems. This is the first collaborative venture which establishes a common product offering in a new product space. Transaction Express functions equally effectively alongside both Triarch and the Teknekron Trading System.

Note: As previously announced Teknekron Software Systems will shortly be changing its name to TIBCO.
