REUTERS REORGANIZES AMERICAN MEDIA OPERATIONS

NEW YORK, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Reuters today announced the reorganization of its American media news services, television services, and media products sales operations into a single media business entity headquartered in New York.
The announcement was made by Andrew M. Nibley, editor-America, and senior vice president, news and television, Reuters America Inc. Nibley heads the new unit.
Reuters America Inc. is organized in a decentralized structure comprising 12 local business units, supported by key technical operations, and a New York-based strategic management headquarters. The new Media Business Unit is one of these 12.
"Effective today, the News Products department of Reuters America ceases to exist, and is replaced by a new Reuters America Media Business Unit which has responsibility for the production, marketing and sale of all general news services -- including television -- in the United States," Nibley said.
"Part of the old News Products department, that which dealt with news for Reuters financial services, was previously decentralized and merged with regional business districts of Reuters America chiefly in New York City," Nibley added.
"The remainder of the department, which gathers and produces news for media subscribers, together with Reuters Television America, and the Reuters America media sales operations, form the basis of the new entity."
Reporting to Nibley are Arthur P. Bushnell, senior vice president, media sales and marketing; Chris Travers, senior vice president, television; Kate McCooey, who is named to the new position of vice president, media operations; and Brian Williams, assistant news editor, general news.
Williams continues to have a functional reporting line to Donald Nordberg, news editor, Reuters America, who is moving into Reuters New York City Downtown District where the bulk of Reuters U.S. financial news-gathering operations will reside.
Reuters America Inc. is the chief operating unit in North and Latin America of Reuters Holdings PLC (NASDAQ: RTRSY), the international news and financial information group.
