REUTERS LAUNCHES NEW SHIPPING SERVICE

LONDON, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Reuters has launched Shipping 2000, a new international news, information and communications service for customers who require real-time contact with their counterparts in the shipping industry.
Shipping 2000 replaces the Reuter Monitor Shipping Service (RMSS), which was launched in 1981 to enable the international shipping community to communicate electronically. More than 350 companies in some 40 countries subscribe to RMSS.
Based on the Reuter Terminal and using Microsoft(R) Windows(TM), Shipping 2000 enables users to send, reply to and edit messages. Users can also file personal mailings and important messages for future reference and access an on-line directory to keep track of changes within the industry.
In addition to the communications capability, Shipping 2000 provides users with the latest news through News 2000, an easy way of accessing news through the Reuter Terminal. Included is general and shipping industry news, exchange rates, securities news and commodity prices.
Shipping 2000 has already been successfully tested in New York; London; Oslo, Norway; Hamburg, Germany; Geneva, Switzerland; Singapore; and Tokyo. It is available immediately in the United Kingdom and Asia and will be available shortly in the rest of the world.
Reuters Holdings PLC (NASDAQ-NMS: RTRSY) is the international news and financial information services group.
