REUTERS LAUNCHES NEW PC PLATFORM FOR HISTORICAL DATA
TORONTO, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Reuters today introduced Reuter

Link, a new PC platform for Reuter end-of-day and historical data.
Reuter Link provides an easy-to-use and cost-efficient way for financial and energy analysts and research specialists to retrieve worldwide market data for use with standard PC spreadsheet packages.
Developed by Reuters Information Services (Canada) Ltd., Reuter Link offers PC access to timely, validated, current and historical pricing data for some 200,000 instruments, making it an ideal complement to Reuter real-time services. Reuters and selected third-party sources supply the information.
Reuter Link data coverage includes equities (including corporate actions), bonds, options, commodities, indices, mutual funds, corporate fundamentals, foreign exchange rates, and money market interest rates.
Reuter Link also offers complete petroleum product pricing and supply information.
"Now for the first time, Reuter-sourced data is available through a single historical pricing product," says Janet F. Pistone, vice president/numeric products, Reuters America Inc.
Reuter Link, which runs on IBM(R) PC/AT(R) and compatible computers, offers a variety of user-friendly features, including output in standard spreadsheet and text formats; error checking; a context-sensitive help system; mouse support; PC-resident directories of all security identifiers and descriptions, and automated batch downloading.
Reuter Link is now available in North America and will be made available later this year in Europe and Asia.
Reuters Holdings PLC (NASDAQ: RTRSY) supplies the global business community and news media with a wide range of products, including real- time financial data, transaction systems, access to numeric and textual historical databases, news and news pictures. Reuters has a controlling interest in Visnews, the international television news agency, and Reuter Group companies design and install trading room systems. Information is obtained from around 170 exchanges and over-the-counter markets, from some 3,660 subscribers who contribute data directly to Reuters, and from a network of about 1,300 journalists, photographers and cameramen. Reuters distributes information through approximately 205,000 video terminals, and teleprinters. This includes clients' own terminals that receive Reuter data.
