REUTERS FORECASTS CONTINUED STEADY GROWTH

LONDON, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The outlook for Reuters Holdings PLC (NASDAQ: RTRSY) for 1993 is for continued steady growth, the company's Chairman, Sir Christopher Hogg, told shareholders at today's annual general meeting.
"At current rates of exchange," he said, "Reuters would expect a double digit revenue increase."
He continued: "We have maintained our stable pricing policy and have pursued an aggressive program of updating our product range.
"Business is showing strong growth in the United States with some encouraging signs of revival in the U.K. However, conditions in parts of Continental Europe and Japan remain more difficult."
Reviewing the company's transaction products, Sir Christopher reported much effort was being expended to build up liquidity on Dealing 2000-2 and GLOBEX(R). Increased transaction volumes have been the result. Dealing 2000-2 is the new automated matching product for foreign exchange dealing. GLOBEX performs a similar matching function for financial futures. The Chicago Board of Trade, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Paris-based MATIF are partners with Reuters in the GLOBEX system.
Sir Christopher added: "The board is keeping Reuters strong cash position under review. We are conscious that the executive is devoting considerable attention to identifying new markets where Reuters basic skills can be applied to provide further growth opportunities for the company and its shareholders."
Reuters revenue rose 6.9 percent to 1,567.6 million pounds sterling in the year to Dec. 31, 1992, from 1,466.6 million pounds the previous year. Pre-tax profit rose 12.6 percent to 383.2 million pounds from 340.3 million pounds.
