REUTERS DISTRIBUTES GOLDMAN SACHS YEN CONVERTIBLE BOND INDEX

TOKYO, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Reuters is now distributing the Goldman Sachs Liquid Fifty (GOLF index), the first real-time index of the 50 most actively traded yen convertible bonds listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The index was developed by Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York.
The GOLF is a price-weighted index which measures the total return of the bonds, (price appreciation plus accrued interest).
It is the only yen convertible index calculated in real-time during the trading day, thus allowing fund managers, traders and arbitrageurs to measure price movements more accurately in the yen convertible bond market.
Each January and July, the GOLF is rebalanced to reflect changes in liquidity: less active issues are replaced with issues which recorded a higher total trading volume.
To maintain the continuity of the index, no more than five issues can be replaced during each rebalancing. To prevent a concentration of any single company due to multiple active issues, no more than one issue per company many be included and new issues automatically replace, at the next rebalancing, any previous issue in the index.
The GOLF index provides the following information: a convertible bond total return index, a convertible price performance index, average convertible bond prices, average parity, average premium, average simple yield and average yield to maturity.
The index, which is calculated and distributed exclusively by Reuters, is available to all existing Reuter customers taking Reuters international equity-linked products.
