 LONDON, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Reuters Holdings PLC (NASDAQ: RTRSY) today announced the appointment of two new non-executive directors.
 Robert P. Bauman (62) joins the board on March 1, 1994. He has been chief executive of SmithKline Beecham p.l.c. since 1989 when Beecham Group p.l.c. merged with SmithKline Beckman.
 Charles J. F. Sinclair (45) joins the board on Jan. 1, 1994. He has been group chief executive of Daily Mail and General Trust plc since 1988.
 Bauman and Sinclair will replace Ian G. Park (58) and David K. Snedden (60), who are due to retire in April 1994, each having served six years on the board.
 The board also announced the appointment of Simon A. Yencken as company secretary with effect from Jan. 1, 1994. Yencken has been general counsel since he joined Reuters in January this year.
 Reuters previously combined the offices of finance director and company secretary.
 Bob Bauman is a director of Capital Cities/ABC, Inc., Union Pacific Corporation and CIGNA Corporation. He is a trustee of Ohio Wesleyan University and a member of The Conference Board and The Council on Foreign Relations. He is a member of the Medical Research Council and the British-North American Committee, and is on the board of trustees of The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, England.
 Bauman joined Beecham Group p.l.c. in 1986 as executive chairman. He was vice chairman of Textron Inc. from 1985-86 and served as chairman of Avco Corporation, a conglomerate in financial services and aerospace, from 1981-85. Earlier, he spent 23 years with General Foods Inc.
 Bauman, who is married with two children, was born in Cleveland on March 27, 1931. He received a bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1953, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1955. In July 1993 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of The London Business School.
 Charles Sinclair is a director of Euromoney Publications PLC, Schroders plc, and Westcountry Television Ltd. He is also chairman of the trustees of the Minack Theatre Trust, Porthcurno, Cornwall.
 Sinclair left Dearden Farrow, Chartered Accountants, in 1975 to join Associated Newspapers Holdings. He was appointed assistant managing director and member of the main board in 1986 and managing director in 1988. Associated Newspapers Holdings became the wholly-owned operating subsidiary of Daily Mail and General Trust in 1988.
 Sinclair, who is married with two children, was born in Suffolk on April 4, 1948. He was educated at Winchester College and Magdalen College, Oxford, where he gained a bachelor's degree. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
 Simon Yencken commenced employment with the Australian law firm Freehill Hollingdale & Page in 1978. He became a partner of the firm in 1983 at the age of 28. He specialized in corporate law and banking and finance. He left Freehill Hollingdale & Page to join Reuters in January 1993, after 10 years as a partner.
 Yencken, who is divorced with three children, was born in Australia on Aug. 27, 1955. He was educated at Melbourne Church of England Grammar School and Monash University (Victoria) where he gained bachelor degrees in law and science (mathematics). He has been admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, as a barrister and solicitor in Victoria, as a solicitor in New South Wales, and to practice before the Federal and High Courts of Australia.
 Ian Park joined the board of Reuters Holdings PLC in February 1988. He was previously a director of Reuters Limited from 1978-1982. He is managing director of Northcliffe Newspapers Group Limited and a director of Associated Newspapers Holdings.
 David Snedden joined the board of Reuters Holdings PLC in April 1988. He has been chairman of the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo since 1985. He is deputy chairman of Trinity International Holdings plc and was chief executive and managing director from 1982-92.
