REUTER TEXTILE AVAILABLE ON NEXIS AND DIALOG
 NEW YORK, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Users of NEXIS(R) and DIALOG(R),

two of the world's largest on-line database services, can now access Reuter Textline as the result of recent Reuter (NASDAQ: RTRSY) agreements with Mead Data Central and Dialog Information Services, Inc.
The licensing arrangements are consistent with Reuters strategy which makes Textline more directly accessible to on-line database users worldwide.
Reuters has announced similar agreements with Data-Star, a unit of Radio Suisse Ltd., and MAID Systems Ltd. Reuters and the Financial Times have announced a Gateway link between Textline and the FT Profile service.
Reuter Textline is a leading source of international business information. It carries articles from over 500 publications, including Reuters own news services, and offers translated abstracts of articles from some 17 languages. The database reaches back 10 years and is update at the rate of around one million articles per year.
NEXIS is a computer-assisted electronic information service provided by Mead Data Central, Inc., of Dayton, Ohio. It offers full-text articles from more than 750 of the world's leading news and business sources, and is the exclusive on-line source of the New York Times.
Dialog Information Services offers more than 400 databases primarily in the business, scientific and technical areas. Now celebrating its twentieth anniversary, the DIALOG service is used by some 140,000 customers in 100 countries.
Material provided to DIALOG and the NEXIS service will be updated via a feed from Textline. Users will be able to search Textline on the NEXIS service and DIALOG using familiar search interfaces. Mead Data Central will also include sources previously available but no longer updated by Textline. Both agreements allow for international distribution.
Prices will be set by Mead Data Central and Dialog Information Services, Inc. Billing and administration will also be carried out by these organizations.
Reuters continues to own and operate the Textline database. The selection of sources will remain under the control of Reuters, as will decisions on editorial coding and translating. Reuters no longer sells Textline directly to customers in the U.K. and Continental Europe. In North America, Reuters will continue to sell and support Textline for the foreseeable future.
Peter Williams, Reuters International corporate products marketing manager, added: "We are delighted to be able to announce licensing agreements with Mead Data Central and Dialog Information Services.
"Although both companies already offer an outstanding range of business information, we believe Textline will be a useful addition to their coverage, especially for those monitoring European and Asian developments."
Reuters supplies the global business community and news media with a wide range of products including real-time financial data, transactions systems, access to numeric and textual historical databases, news and news pictures. Information is obtained from around 180 exchanges and over-the-counter markets and from a network of about 1,300 journalists, photographers and cameramen. Reuters distributes information through approximately 202,000 terminals and teleprinters. This included clients' own terminals that receive Reuter data.
