RESULT!: DOZEN GOOD REASONS TO LAY IT ON THE AUSSIES; IN ASSOCIATION WITH betfair.com.
THE big question as we head into the quarterfinals of the rugby World Cup is: How can you tell if a rugby player has had a good game?
I've absolutely no idea. It seems hardly any of them touch the ball and when they do they are happy to welly it as far as possible into the crowd, though England players manage even to cock that up.
All I know for certain - because I've been told by those who know and also by those who don't - is that Australia at evens to beat England by more than 12 points today is a safe bet. England are generally 40-1 to win the World Cup - that's with bookies who know they will attract patriotic (i.e. mug) money no matter what they offer. On Betfair England are trading at 74-1.
World Cup odds (Betfair): 2-9 Australia v 9-2 England. Handicap betting: 11-10 England (+11.5pts) v 10-11 Australia. Outright: 8-11 NZ, 3-1 S Africa, 10-1 Australia, 20-1 France, 23-1 Argentina, 74-1 England, 370-1 Scotland, 500-1 Fiji.
