RESTAURANT ENTERPRISES GROUP ANNOUNCES REORGANIZATION OF MANAGEMENT TEAM

IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Restaurant Enterprises Group Inc., (REG) yesterday announced a reorganization of its management team in recognition of both the changing needs of the company and the challenges facing it. The new management structure was announced by Norm Habermann, REG's president and chief executive officer.
Barry Krantz assumes the newly created position of chief operating officer, while continuing to serve as president of the Family Restaurant Division. Mike Casey, currently president of the El Torito Division, will become executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Ken Harris, formerly president of the company's Restaurant Services Division, will become president of a newly combined Dinnerhouse Division, which will include both the company's Mexican dinnerhouses (El Torito and Casa Gallardo) and its traditional dinnerhouses (Reuben's and Charley Brown's).
Don McComas, formerly president of Carrows, becomes president of El Torito, while Jim Moore remains the president of Far West Concepts (traditional dinnerhouses). Patti Johnson, heretofore vice president and controller, takes on the new position of senior vice president of Operations Support Services.
Habermann stated, "For the past several years, I have been serving as both REG's chief executive officer and chief operating officer, in addition to being actively involved in the various financial aspects of the company. With the current financial restructuring we are undertaking and the increasingly sophisticated demands of the marketplace, it was critical to reposition the talent we had to accomplish our objectives. I believe this management reorganization does just that."
Habermann added that one of the key benefits of the management reorganization is an enhancement of the company's marketing effort.
"Barry Krantz is one of the premier marketers in the business today," Habermann said. "We expect that, as chief operating officer, Barry will bring a greater marketing focus to the rest of the company -- a marketing focus which has resulted in the fine performance of the REG's Family Restaurant Division's Coco's and Carrows operations," both of which have performed well during the past 30 months, despite a generally declining California economy.
REG operates 587 restaurants in 24 states and the District of Columbia. In addition to its family dining concepts (Coco's, Carrows, jojos, Bob's and Allie's), REG's operations include dinnerhouses (Reuben's and Charley Brown's), Mexican dinnerhouses (El Torito and Casa Gallardo), numerous unique specialty dinnerhouses and a licensing arrangement under which Coco's Japan operates or sub- licenses over 200 Coco's restaurants in Japan and South Korea.
