RESPONSE TO BIG THREE'S DECISION NOT TO FILE DUMPING CHARGES

TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement is for attribution to Yale Gieszl, executive vice president of Toyota Motors Sales, U.S.A.:
We're gratified by the Big Three's sensible decision not to file a dumping charge against imported cars. We view their decision as a clear admission that they don't need more government protection from competition. There are three clear winners from this decision: American consumers, who won't have to face even higher new-car prices; American auto dealers, who won't see their businesses harmed in a legal scuffle between automakers; and all automakers, who can continue to concentrate their limited resources where they should -- upon the twin tasks of building good products and satisfying customers.
