RESPONSE TO ACTION AGAINST USAIR PILOTS

WASHINGTON, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement was issued today by the Air Line Pilots Association:
USAir today announced the dismissal of two pilots and a flight attendant for an alleged violation of safety rules and procedures during a flight on April 21, 1993. The Air Line Pilots Association agrees with USAir that safety is the most important concern for everyone involved in air transportation. However, under the Railway Labor Act, the association has a duty to represent every ALPA member accused of misconduct. It is our policy to withhold comment about a case until the completion of the legal process.
