RESIGNATION IS A GLOBAL HEADLINE.
NEWS that Fianna Fail stalwart Bertie Ahern had resigned made headlines around the world yesterday.
Throughout Europe, America, Australia, Canada and even Africa the media seemed obsessed with the end of the Ahern era.
Even the Arabic news station, Aljazeera carried the story about the former Taoiseach's demise.
His resignation came just days after the Mahon Report found Bertie had not told the truth about where he got more than IRpounds 215,000 that ended up in his bank accounts.
The Australian Victorian Times, the Global Post, the Vancouver Sun, the Miama Herald and the respected Washington Post all reported on how Bertie's explanations about wins on the horses and secret hand-outs from friends were rubbished by the 15-year Mahon Tribunal.
And just 48 hours later, the same global publications carried reports on Ahern's final farewell.
