RENOLD D. THOMPSON, JR. PROMOTED TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, NATIONAL CITY BANK

 CLEVELAND, Ohio, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- National City Bank announced today that Renold D. Thompson, Jr., 43, has been promoted to senior vice president of the $8 billion lead bank of National City Corporation (NYSE: NCC).
 Thompson manages the special finance division of the bank's multinational group. This division, founded in 1992, specializes in highly structured commercial transactions. He joined the special finance unit in July 1992. Thompson reports to James R. Bell III, senior vice president, corporate banking administration.
 PROFILE OF RENOLD D. THOMPSON, JR.
 Renold D. Thompson, Jr. joined National City Bank in 1985 as vice president and lending officer in the national division. In 1987, he was promoted to regional manager of the multinational division where he was involved with highly-structured transactions.
 Before joining National City, he was vice president and lending officer for the Bank of America where he specialized in highly structured transactions involving the energy, metals and mining industries.
 In 1973, he received his undergraduate degrees in economics and engineering from Dartmouth College. He attended the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration where he received his master's degree in business administration in 1974. He and his wife Jean live in Hunting Valley, Ohio.
