RENO AIR ANNOUNCES NEW DESTINATIONS, ROUTES

RENO, Nev., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Nevada-based Reno Air Inc. (NASDAQ: RENO; PSE: RNO) today announced plans to add three new destinations in the West, as well as additional routes between existing cities, beginning in December.
The carrier is scheduled to initiate service to Las Vegas, Tucson and Phoenix on Dec. 15. Non-stop flights will be offered to both Las Vegas and Phoenix from the airline's hometown of Reno/Tahoe, as well as from its hub in San Jose, Calif. Non-stop service between Tucson and Las Vegas is also scheduled, along with direct flights from Tucson to Reno/Tahoe.
"We've been examining these new routes for some time," said Reno Air President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Erickson. "Our moderate growth will be funded by ceasing operations in San Francisco, which have not proven profitable for the company, on Dec. 1. This realignment of our schedule is designed to increase the flow of passenger traffic into our hometown of Reno/Tahoe and San Jose."
Erickson added that Reno Air will continue to serve San Francisco through November to protect passengers already booked on the carrier for the Thanksgiving holiday. On Dec. 1, Bay Area non-stop service to Burbank will shift from San Francisco to San Jose, and the carrier will discontinue operations completely in San Francisco. Flights between San Jose and Reno/Tahoe will also be discontinued. Aircraft will be utilized on new, non-stop flights between Burbank and Reno/Tahoe, scheduled to begin Dec. 1.
When the carrier opens new destinations on Dec. 15, it plans to fly two daily round trips between Reno/Tahoe-Las Vegas, Las Vegas-Tucson, and Las Vegas-San Jose. Phoenix service will begin with one daily non- stop to Reno/Tahoe, and one daily non-stop to San Jose.
Reno Air currently leases 17 McDonnell-Douglas MD-80 series jets, and serves Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, Burbank, Ontario, Los Angeles and San Diego, as well as its hometown of Reno/Tahoe.
