RENO AIR ANNOUNCES NEW CITY

RENO, Nev., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Nevada-based Reno Air Inc. (NASDAQ: RENO (common stock), RENOU (units), RENOW (warrants)), which reported a profit in only its second quarter of operation, announced today it will begin two daily nonstop flights between Reno/Tahoe and Kansas City, Mo., on April 29.
The carrier, which began service July 1, 1992, currently serves Seattle, Portland, Ore., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Ontario, Calif., and San Diego from its home at Reno Cannon International Airport. The airline also plans three daily round trips between Reno/Tahoe and Minneapolis/St. Paul starting April 1. A third Kansas City-Reno round trip is scheduled to begin May 13.
Jeff Erickson, president and chief executive officer of Reno Air, said the airline will offer a two-week advance purchase fare of $95 one- way. "We think our sustained low-fare levels will be very beneficial to the traveling public," said Erickson. "This new service will also provide passengers with inexpensive, convenient direct and connecting flights to the destinations we serve. Fares between Kansas City and San Francisco will be as low as $140 one-way and $145 one-way between our other West Coast cities and the Midwest."
Reno Air currently leases seven McDonnell-Douglas MD-80 jets, which seat 20 passengers in first class and 120 in coach. The carrier recently announced plans to have 10 MD-80s by summer. The additional aircraft will be used to supplement existing routes.
