 RENIER SURGERY SUCCESSFUL, CARDIOLOGIST SAYS
 Six-Week Recovery Period Expected
MINNEAPOLIS, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Honeywell Inc. (NYSE: HON) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James J. Renier is recovering this afternoon from successful heart bypass surgery today at a Minneapolis hospital.
Renier is expected to fully recover over the next six weeks, after which time he will resume a full work schedule, said Dr. Robert Van Tassel, Renier's cardiologist.
While he recovers, a team of senior executives -- comprising executive vice presidents Mike Bonsignore, Larry Moore and Christopher Steffen, and Clint Larson, vice president of operations -- will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company. The team will report to the board of directors in Renier's absence.
The five-hour operation at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital successfully bypassed the involved areas in Renier's coronary arteries, Van Tassel said. There were no complications, he said.
Renier, 62, will be released from the hospital in about a week, Van Tassel said.
The non-emergency surgery was planned as part of ongoing treatment for a heart ailment.
