 Rene Mancini Background Information
The prestigious firm was established by Mr. and Mrs. Rene Mancini in 1950. At the time, the couple was already well-known as makers of fine, traditional footwear for clients like Chanel, the Duchess of Windsor, Jacqueline Kennedy (Onassis), Rose Kennedy, Oona Chaplin, Mme. Pompidou, Lauren Bacall and Audrey Hepburn.
It didn't take the Mancinis long to establish relationships and create shoes for the most famous fashion houses, including: Pierre Balmain, Jacques Fath, Cristobal Balenciaga, Hubert de Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent.
In 1955, Claire Mancini (Conry) and her siblings began to learn the highly skilled craft of creating hand made shoes from their father in the Paris atelier. With the help of his children, Mancini's company developed an international reputation and today is regarded as one of the premiere shoe makers in the world. By 1976, Claire succeeded her father as president and directeur general of the international organization.
