RELIANCE ELECTRIC ANNOUNCES ELECTION OF NEW OFFICERS

 CLEVELAND, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Reliance Electric Company (NYSE: REE) today announced the election by its board of directors, effective Oct. 21, 1993, of two officers. Elected as vice presidents were A. A. (Al) Muren and Joseph D. (Joe) Swann.
 Muren, 55, has been with Reliance for 26 years and has served in a number of key management position. Since his graduation with an electrical engineering degree from Case Western Reserve University, Muren has been plant manager, Drives Group; engineering manager, Drives Group; general manager, Drives Group; and Drives Group operations manager. Muren was named general manager of the company's Electrical Group in 1986.
 Swann, 52, has 24 years of service with Reliance. After earning a B.S. from Clemson University and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University, Swann joined Reliance as technical service manager at its Athens, Ga., plant. Swann had additional assignments including plant controller, plant manager and operations manager before becoming general manager of the company's Mechanical Power Transmission Group in 1982.
 Reliance Electric Company, headquartered in Cleveland, designs, manufactures, sells and services a broad range of industrial and telecommunications equipment and had 1992 annual sales in excess of $1.5 billion. Reliance operates 47 manufacturing plants worldwide in nine countries and employs approximately 14,000 people.
