RELIANCE COMM/TEC TO PROVIDE TELECOM SYSTEMS
 FOR DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
CLEVELAND, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Reliance Electric Company (NYSE: REE) announced that US West Communications Services has selected Reliance Comm/Tec Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance, to design and install the telecommunications electronics for the new, multi-terminal Denver International Airport. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Key to the airport's telecommunications system is Reliance Comm/Tec's DISC*S fiber-in-the-loop product, the industry's most widely deployed next generation digital loop carrier. The system is designed to provide simultaneously a broad spectrum of services and operate over SONET based high-speed digital multiplexers utilizing the latest technology in fiber networking. Primary features include voice and data services which extend beyond the main terminal and concourses to key airport facilities such as fire and rescue, airline maintenance hangars, air cargo and a vehicle toll plaza. In addition to supplying its DISC*S platform, Reliance Comm/Tec will furnish the bulk and distributed power supplies and turnkey project management, including consulting engineering, site surveys and installation services.
Denver International Airport is the United States' newest major metropolitan airport facility and is the first of its size and magnitude since Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was completed in 1974. The Denver facility consists of a main terminal and three outlying concourses. It is scheduled to open to regular commercial air traffic in the fall of 1993.
Reliance Comm/Tec Corporation is a recognized leader in offering advanced products, services and technologies to the telecommunications industry worldwide.
