 REHAB HOSPITALS DIVISION (NME) PURCHASES
SECOND ERGOS(TM) FOR ITS NATIONAL NETWORK
TUCSON, Ariz., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Work Recovery Inc. (NASDAQ: WORK), a Tucson-based provider of advanced rehabilitation technology and a national network of testing clinics for the industrially injured, announced today the second purchase of the ERGOS(TM) Work Simulator and Transition Work Stations by the Rehab Hospitals Division of National Medical Enterprises (RH/NME). RH/NME is the nation's largest rehabilitation network, providing a full complement of rehabilitation services to handicapped and disabled.
RH/NME has more than 50 facilities throughout the United States, with one of its major service areas being the rehabilitation of industrially injured workers. RH/NME's decision to install a second ERGOS Work Simulator, in their CORE facility in Las Cruces, N.M., was driven by the two-year experience of the Rio Vista Rehabilitation Hospital in El Paso, Texas, which features Work Recovery Inc.'s ERGOS and Transition Work Stations. The success of this program was documented in a recent issue of Industrial Quarterly, which showed that the Rio Vista program had a significantly high (86 percent) return-to- work rate for injured workers. Program personnel have stated: "The ERGOS has been a continuous source of confidence building for our program, especially for clinical personnel, in measuring human performance."
Thomas L. Brandon, president, stated that Work Recovery Inc. and RH/NME Corporate are currently discussing a 5-year strategy for installation of ERGOS in RH/NME's national network.
Brandon also announced the recent signing of a private label and distribution agreement for the Whole Person Impairment Rating System, developed by Medical Strategies, of Lynn, Mass. The "PIR2000 Impairment Rating System" will interface with ERGOS to provide an impairment rating in accordance with the American Medical Association's (AMA) Guides to Permanent Impairment, Revised Edition. The Combination of ERGOS Functional Capacity testing and the PIR2000 Impairment Rating System will assist physicians in recommending appropriate return-to-work schedules for industrially injured workers.
