Mass. Audubon lauds Naughton

CLINTON - State Rep. Harold P. Naughton Jr., D-Clinton, has received high marks from the Massachusetts Audubon Society for his votes on environmental topics.

Mr. Naughton scored an 83 percent on the society's legislative report card, a compilation of roll call votes by state legislators on environmental bills or funding.

According to the Audubon Society, the House last year held 12 roll call votes on the environment, including decreasing mercury in the environment, strengthening the Toxic Use Reduction Act, speeding up the awarding of environmental permits, and overriding then Gov. Mitt Romney's budget vetoes on environmental programs.

Mr. Naughton also supported funding for state environmental programs, including money for state parks and for reducing toxins in the environment.

In its commendation of Mr. Naughton, the society noted that he was on military duty in Iraq during the early part of the legislative session, but still managed to remain committed to his environmental voting record.
