REFUELING SCHEDULED FOR UNIT 3 AT SAN ONOFRE

 SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Refueling and maintenance work has begun for Unit 3 at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, according to Southern California Edison, operator of the facility.
 Unit 3, an 1100 megawatt generating unit, was taken out of service yesterday (Sunday, Oct. 10). During the outage, about one-half of the 217 nuclear fuel assemblies will be replaced. In addition, scheduled maintenance work and inspections will be performed.
 The refueling outage for Unit 3 is expected to be completed in about 85 days. While the San Onofre unit is out of service, replacement power will be obtained from other Edison resources and power purchase made throughout the region.
