RED CARD FOR ROCKERS.

Byline: Dave Kidd

CALL yourself football fans? Rock band Hard-Fi, right, are moaning that they missed hometown club Staines Town's FA Cup victory over Stockport because they had to appear on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.

Compare and contrast with the magnificent Half Man Half Biscuit, who refused to appear on The Tube in the 1980s because the show clashed with a Tranmere Rovers Friday night home match - even though Channel 4 offered them a helicopter ride to Prenton Park.

And Hard-Fi won't count as genuine fans of the beautiful game until they write a football song as good as the Biscuits' 'Even Men With Steel Hearts Love To See A Dog On The Pitch'.
