RECOVERY ENGINEERING NAMES GUETZKE VICE PRESIDENT, INTERNATIONAL SALES

MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Recovery Engineering, Inc. (NASDAQ: REIN) today announced it has named Thomas L. Guetzke to the new position of vice president, international sales. He will lead the company's entry into international markets for residential water treatment products. As previously disclosed, Recovery Engineering anticipates initial shipments of its international residential water treatment products during the second quarter of 1994.
Guetzke served for seven years in various international marketing positions for Whirlpool Corporation, Benton Harbor, Mich. He was managing director of KitchenAid Europa, Inc., where he directed the launch of the division's portable appliances in the European market. Prior to his move to KitchenAid, he was sales and marketing manager, key markets, for Whirlpool Overseas Corporation, where he developed international marketing and sales programs in 65 countries, including parts of Asia and Latin America. Among other accomplishments, he conceived and launched a marketing plan that achieved first-year sales of $17 million in Mexico, and directed the company's entry into the difficult Japanese market.
"Tom Guetzke's skills and background are ideally suited to our international expansion strategy," said Brian F. Sullivan, president and CEO. "He will be a tremendous asset to our senior management team."
Guetzke received a master's degree in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird), Phoenix; and a bachelor's degree from St. John's University, Collegeville, Minn.
Recovery Engineering, based in Minneapolis, designs, develops, manufactures and markets proprietary small-scale water purification and desalination systems for marine and recreational applications. It is currently preparing to market a new line of water treatment products for residential use in overseas markets, particularly developing countries in Latin America and Asia.
