RECOGNITION RECEIVES COMPUTER SCIENCES CORPORATION/ SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION AWARD

DALLAS, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognition International Inc. (NYSE: REC) today announced receipt of a contract from Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) to act as a subcontractor under CSC's contract with the Social Security Administration. Under the prime contract, CSC will provide an integrated image-based data capture system to the Social Security administration to be installed in their Data Operations Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Recognition will provide several high-speed XP80(TM) optical character recognition and image scanners, as well as Recognition's Plexus(R) XDP(R) image and FloWare(TM) workflow software. The products to be delivered by Recognition are valued at approximately $3.5 million, if all options are exercised, plus service for up to eight years. Deliveries will begin in June 1993.
The Recognition XP80 systems, which are capable of processing more than 100 documents per minute, will be used for optical character reading and image capture of Social Security Administration documents, such as W-2 and W-3 annual wage reports.
Recognition's Plexus XDP software is used to develop work group, department or enterprise-wide imaging applications. XDP is recognized as a de facto standard for client server-based document imaging.
The Plexus FloWare software allows users to build and interactively evolve workflow applications. FloWare moves work between activities on a network according to a user-defined and created workflow map.
Commenting on the award, Bob Vanourek, Recognition's president and chief executive officer said, "We are gratified that the Social Security Administration and CSC have selected our products and service for this project. Our XP80 systems and Plexus software are accomplishing these same sorts of process automation missions for customers around the world."
