RECOGNITION RECEIVES $14 MILLION CANADIAN DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENSE ORDER

 DALLAS, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognition International Inc. (NYSE: REC) announced today that its Recognition Canada Inc. subsidiary was awarded a contract from the Canadian Department of National Defense to design, provide and service a local and wide-area computer network. The contract is valued at approximately Cdn. $18.5 million (approximately US$14 million).
 The system will include 158 servers, 1,300 workstations and 1,100 printers to be installed in 53 locations across Canada. The system will provide the Canadian Department of National Defense with communication capabilities for moving data between Department of Defense bases and other locations, messaging service and administrative applications for office automation. Recognition Canada will provide installation and integration of hardware, software and communications as well as training and ongoing support and service for two years. Installation under the contract will begin immediately and is scheduled to be substantially completed by the end of 1994.
 In commenting on the order, Michael D. Briand, vice president and general manager of Recognition Canada Inc., said, "This award for a very large system including sophisticated hardware and software places Recognition Canada in the leading group of systems integrators in Canada."
